SWITZERLAND TRIP ITINERARY
Sept. 21st- Arrive in Geneva. Please arrive between the hours of 12:00-5:00pm as that is the time. ITW will instruct you on how to arrive at the hotel. Ashley will be greeting people and checking people in. You can arrive after 5:00pm but you will potentially miss the opening dinner, and that’s ok, but be aware. While you await for people to arrive, you’ll explore the beautiful Old town and along Lake Geneva, including the Jet d’eau for those who arrive by mid afternoon. Welcome Dinner at 6:30pm.
Sept. 22nd- Breakfast at the hotel, then we set off on a drive to Lauterbrunnen where we will remain for 2 nights. In the aftternoon, we will do a bike ride in Lauterbrunnen valley with stops to see some incredible waterfalls along the way. Afterwards, a group dinner and free time.
Sept. 23rd- Breakfast at the hotel. We will then do the “First Cliff Walk” and hike to Bachalpsee, taking a cable car up the mountain. Today we will enjoy the hike, the scenery and each other, grab a meal from a supermarket or takeout, and return to the hotel for dinner.
Sept. 24th- Breakfast, then check out of hotel. We will take a cable car to another hike which is rated moderate. Afterwards, we will drive to Kandersteg, stopping at Blausee on the way. Blausee is an incredible turquoise lake set in a lovely nature park. Upon arriving at Kanderstea, we will have dinner and stay 2 nights.
Sept. 25th- Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will take a Cable Car to Oeschinesee and do a hike in the area. Oeschinensee might just be the most beautiful lake in Switzerland! Today we’ll hike past grazing cows, a waterfall flowing into the lake, and stunning views from above. We plan on renting canoes on the lake as well.
Sept. 26th-Check out of hotel after breakfast and drive to Gruyeres, a medieval village that looks like it’s straight out of a fairy tale. We will enjoy a morning walking tour of Gruyeres village and castle. Then, we’ll wander the cobblestone streets and take an afternoon tour of Cailler chocolate factory after lunch. You can’t visit Switzerland without sampling some chocolate, and Cailler chocolate is some of the best. This informative tour will teach us about the history of chocolate, how it’s made, and of course end with some samples! We will spend tonight in Bulle.
Sept. 27th- early wake and breakfast at hotel- we want to be up for the famous cow parade in Charmey! One of the most unique things you can experience in Switzerland is the Desalpes, a festival that occurs every fall when the cows return from their summer of grazing high in their alpine pastures. The cows are decked out in their biggest bells and beautiful flower crowns as they are herded through the village and down the mountain. A can’t miss experience! Lunch at Gruyere cheese factory. This is the place where Gruyere cheese is made and they have arguably the best fondue in Switzerland…straight from the source! In the afternoon, we will drive back to Geneva. Goodbye dinner, and free time.
Sept 28th-Breakfast at hotel, and the trip is over! Please schedule your flights home in the morning hours. ITW will instruct you on how to get back to the airport.
