Into the Wild rwanda/Uganda is a unique chance to have a wild time with other amazing women, experience new culture, see amazing wildlife and connect with the outdoors in a major way. the amount of rare animals we will see is mind blowing- a wild time, indeed!
I’m guessing Rwanda and Uganda haven’t made it to the top of your bucket list. But we are here to say: they absolutely should be!
After a very devastating and dangerous time in history, Rwanda’s tourism game is now absolutely amazing! The country is welcoming, safe, clean, and teeming with adventures and beauty. Uganda is also completely safe and welcoming, and the two countries combined will absolutely blow your mind with the natural beauty, culture and people, and the sights you’ll see while trekking and on safari. Into the Wild is ready to take you on a trip of a lifetime to Uganda and Rwanda- one you don’t want to miss.
At $4399, you really cannot do this kind of adventurous, educational and exotic trip at a better price. All transport (except flights to Entebbe, Uganda and then home from Kigali, Rwanda), meals and activities are included! Leave it to Into the Wild to provide you with the BEST possible experience without you having to do any of the research.
Imagine having the time of your life, without having to do any planning, booking, or arranging? Experiences you don’t have to lift a finger for or plan? Gorilla Trekking, Chimpanzee trekking, Golden Monkey trekking, multiple land and boat safaris, and seeing Africa’s Big 5 Game! IMAGINE!
This retreat is for the woman interested in maximum fun/adventure in 2 completely safe African countries. We will combine adventure with learning and send you home feeling amazing. I am a firm believer that fun and adventure is key to a fulfilling and happy life.
Below is the information on what you come away with from this retreat.
Cost for Rwanda is $4300 for 7 nights. (You may need to stay an 8th night if you can’t get a flight out after 8pm on the 16th, it would be self funded and not part of the trip, before catching a flight home from Kigali.) All lodging, food, and transportation during the retreat is included except snacks, souvenirs and alcohol. You will need to get yourselves to the airport in Entebbe, Uganda for the first day in the trip, and from Kigali, Rwanda to your home.
Here are the fine details of this trip. VERY important to read these things!
Each participant is responsible for contacting their local health department to find out which vaccinations are needed/advised for visiting Rwanda.
This trip starts in Uganda and ends in Rwanda. Your flights will need to start and end in this manner.
Our lodgings will vary a lot, and they will be different than most Into the Wild retreats. We will be moving hotels/lodgings six times, so please be ready to pack lightly and move frequently. This is a real adventure! Laundry is readily available along the way for a fee. Lodges also clean your boots and gaitors each night so you can be clean for more trekking the next day :)
You will need to purchase Visas upon arriving in Uganda and Rwanda, e-visas. Currently they each cost $50.
This is a road trip. Total time driving in the car will be about 16-18 hours.
You MUST be physically fit. Gorilla, chimp and golden monkey trekking can be difficult hiking- it really depends on where the gorillas and other animals are on any particular day. Please be able to hike at least 6 miles and climb about 1500ft in a hike. The elevation can be up to 8000 feet.
For this adventure, we’d like anyone who signs up to be really, really flexible about schedules and able to endure long days. This trip is not for the weary of heart as we are packing a LOT of activities, travel, and new experiences.
Car sick folks will have a rough time on this trip if you don’t have a good motion sickness medicine solution. The roads are curvy. If you are a car sick prone person, please have a plan figured out beforehand as to how to fight the carsickness! I personally use Zofran and it works wonders.
This trip has a specific packing list that we will give you early on. Now that we’ve completed the trip once, we know now what you need and don’t need!

And what an incredible adventure it will be! We will spend one hour with the Gorillas once we find them, as that’s all that is allowed on this highly regulated activity. Then, back to our lodge for lunch. Later, we will set off to Volcanoes National Park, reaching our new lodge in the evening just in time for dinner.
January 14: After breakfast, we will go Golden monkey tracking! We’ll gather at the park headquarters for briefing and proceed to hiking. On return, we’ll clean up, have lunch and depart for Kigali, reaching the capital of Rwanda in the evening.
