Northern Vietnam itinerary:

March 5: Land in Hanoi by 3pm if possible. Check into hotel anytime after 3pm (landing from about 11am-4pm is best) and enjoy our first group dinner!

March 6: Spend the morning on a historical/market tour of the wonderful city of Hanoi and enjoy a food tour as well! We will eat lots of good food today and surely get our steps in. Free time and dinner will follow.

March 7: Leave for the Sapa area very early in the morning on a luxury bus. This ride is approximately 6 hours, we’ll start to trek along rice terraces and visit Y Lunh Ho, Lao Chai, and Ta Van, meeting the Black Hmong and Dzay communities along the way. There will be stops to actually visit with the locals and take a rest. We’ll stay overnight in a local homestay with food, warm hospitality, and cultural connection.

March 8: Enjoy another day in the Sapa area! We’ll continue trekking, passing through rice fields and bamboo forests to Giang Ta Chai village (home of the Red Dao people). In the afternoon, we’ll return to Sapa town and visit Cat Cat village for a relaxed walk, waterfalls, and cultural sights. In the evening we can explore Sapa town and the night market.

March 9: Today you’ll head up to Fanispan Peak and take the cable car up to the “Roof of Indochina” for incredible panoramic views. After this, you’ll head back to Hanoi on the luxury bus and arrive back to your Hanoi hotel. We will have free time and a group dinner.

March 10: Today, you’ll start with breakfast and then take a 2 hour drive to Ha Long Bay. Here we will get on a luxury boat for an overnight stay! Upon loading the boat, we will have a wonderful lunch, go kayaking, enjoy the pool and upper deck and see what other activities the cruise has to offer. Dinner is always a delight, and honestly this cruise along the gorgeous karst formations Is always one of the favorite parts of Into the Wild’s trips to Vietnam.

March 11: Finish the cruise and back to Hanoi! You’ll return to Hanoi and since you may be exhausted from all the activities, trekking, and travel, today is largely a rest day with a meetup for dinner. Lunch will not be included today, but breakfast and dinner will be.

March 12: Breakfast, and then we will head out for a day trip to Ninh Binh. Today you’ll visit the King temple of Hoa Lu and see the old capital. We will cycle around a beautiful road in a small village, and enjoy a classic rowboat trip in Trang An. We’ll enjoy a stunning 360 degree  view after climbing steps up to the top of Mua Cave. We will head back to Hanoi for our final dinner together.
