Montenegro, may 4-11 2027

Into the Wild Montenegro feels like one of Europe’s best-kept secrets, and we would LOVE it if you would join this trip.  In one week, you will wander medieval coastal towns, hike mountain landscapes that feel untouched, move across quiet lakes surrounded by dramatic peaks, and end the day with incredible food and wine.  It’s the kind of place that surprises people at every turn. You need this trip!

At Into the Wild Adventure, we’re drawn to destinations that still feel authentic, adventurous, and a little undiscovered. Montenegro is exactly that. It offers beauty and culture without the overwhelming crowds, especially in May. One day you’l be climbing ancient fortress walls above the Bay of Kotor, the next you’re driving through rugged mountain passes in Durmitor National Park or boating through the peaceful waterways of Lake Skadar.

This trip is designed for women who love to experience a destination fully. We’ll hike, explore historic towns, take scenic drives through dramatic landscapes, eat incredible local food, visit wineries, spend time on the water, and discover corners of Montenegro most travelers never see. There’s a balance of adventure and downtime throughout the week, with enough activity to feel energized and enough space to truly enjoy where you are.

From May 4–11, 2027, we’ll explore the very best of Montenegro together, from the coastal beauty of Kotor and Perast to the wild landscapes of northern Montenegro. If you’re looking for a trip that feels adventurous, scenic, active, and refreshingly different from the typical European itinerary, this is it. This trip is $2699 for 7 nights.

All lodging, food, and transportation during the retreat is included, and on this trip, you can choose to pay an extra $800 for your own room, or take on a new friend as a roomie (or bring your own!). You just need to get yourself to Tivat Airport and back home again!

May 4: Arrive in Montenegro

Arrive in Kotor and settle into our hotel before the trip officially begins with a welcome dinner in one of the most beautiful towns on the Adriatic coast. After dinner, wander the cobblestone streets of Kotor’s Old Town, grab a glass of wine by the bay, or simply relax and recover from travel before the adventure ahead. Stay overnight in Kotor.

May 5: Kotor Fortress & Lovćen National Park

After breakfast, we’ll start the day with the hike up to the famous Kotor Fortress. The climb takes about an hour and rewards us with sweeping views over the Bay of Kotor, with plenty of scenic stops along the way. After time exploring Kotor’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, we’ll drive the dramatic mountain roads into Lovćen National Park, known for its panoramic viewpoints and rugged landscapes. We’ll also visit the Njegoš Mausoleum, perched high above the surrounding mountains. Returning to town, we will have dinner and relaxation. Stay overnight in Kotor.

May 6: Herceg Novi & Savina Winery

Breakfast at hotel. Today we’ll explore Herceg Novi, a laid-back coastal town known for its stone stairways, historic fortresses, and long waterfront promenade. Spend time wandering the Old Town, stopping at cafés along the marina, and taking in a different side of the bay. In the afternoon, we’ll head to Savina Winery for local wine tasting overlooking the water. Stay overnight in Kotor.

May 7: Perast & Our Lady of the Rocks

Breakfast at hotel. This morning we’ll visit Perast, one of the most picturesque towns in the Bay of Kotor. Known for its quiet streets, old stone palaces, and maritime history, Perast feels worlds away from the busier coastal destinations nearby. Later, we’ll take a short boat ride out to Our Lady of the Rocks, the famous man-made island church set in the middle of the bay. There will be free time today, and dinner. Stay overnight in Kotor.

May 8: Lake Skadar & Godinje

Breakfast at hotel. We leave the coast behind and head toward Lake Skadar, one of the Balkans’ most beautiful natural areas and home to incredible birdlife, mountain scenery, and quiet waterways. We’ll take a boat tour from Virpazar to experience the lake from the water before continuing to the small village of Godinje for wine tasting at a family-run winery. Dinner, and stay overnight in Žabljak.

May 9: Biogradska National Park & Tara Canyon

Breakfast. Today we travel north into Montenegro’s mountain landscapes. Our first stop is Biogradska Gora National Park, home to one of Europe’s last remaining primeval forests. Spend time walking around Lake Biograd or relaxing by the water before continuing to the famous Đurđevića Tara Bridge for incredible views over Tara Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in Europe.  Stay overnight in Žabljak.

May 10: Durmitor National Park

Breakfast. Today is all about the dramatic scenery of Durmitor National Park. We’ll explore the area around Black Lake, hike through alpine landscapes, and drive portions of the spectacular Durmitor Ring, known for its mountain views, winding roads, and remote villages. Expect one of the most scenic days of the trip. Stay overnight in Žabljak.

May 11: Departure Day

After breakfast, it’s time to head home. We’ll say goodbye to Montenegro after a week of coastal towns, mountain landscapes, great food, and unforgettable scenery. Today you need to get a flight home after 1pm so that we can allow adequate time to drive the 2.5 hours to the airport in the early morning.
