Kyrgyzstan Itinerary (subject to weather changes)
May 8
Your Kyrgyzstan adventure begins in Bishkek, where you’ll arrive, settle into the hotel, and meet the group over your first dinner together. After a long travel day, the evening is intentionally relaxed, giving everyone time to unwind, get acquainted, and prepare for the incredible week ahead.
May 9
After breakfast, we’ll leave the city behind and head toward the beautiful Chong-Kemin Valley. Along the way, we’ll stop at the historic Burana Tower, a fascinating Silk Road site dating back nearly a thousand years. By lunchtime, we’ll arrive at a cozy guesthouse tucked into the valley, where you’ll be welcomed with warm Kyrgyz hospitality. In the afternoon, we’ll saddle up for a horseback ride through the surrounding countryside, taking in rolling hills, mountain scenery, and quiet village life before gathering for dinner back at the guesthouse.
May 10
Today we’ll continue toward Karakol, driving through some of Kyrgyzstan’s most stunning landscapes. Along the route, we’ll visit the famous Cholpon-Ata petroglyphs, an open-air site filled with ancient rock carvings set against a mountain backdrop. We’ll stop for lunch at a local café before exploring the beautiful Kyrchyn Valley and Grigoryev Gorge, two areas known for dramatic scenery, forests, and sweeping alpine views. Dinner will be shared together that evening in Karakol.
May 11
This morning we’ll journey deep into the mountains to Altyn-Arashan Gorge, one of the country’s most spectacular alpine regions. We’ll travel by rugged off-road vehicle into the valley before beginning a scenic 5 km hike through forests, riverside trails, and open mountain terrain. We’ll stop for a picnic along the way and take our time enjoying the incredible surroundings. After arriving at our yurt camp, a hot lunch will be waiting for us. The afternoon is yours to relax, wander the valley, or soak in the area’s natural hot springs before a traditional dinner and overnight stay in the mountains.
May 12
Today begins with a traditional eagle hunting demonstration in Bokonbaevo, where local hunters will showcase one of Kyrgyzstan’s most iconic nomadic traditions alongside their powerful golden eagles, hunting dogs, and horses. From there, we’ll drive through mountain valleys and small villages toward Kyzart. After a homemade lunch at a local guesthouse, we’ll meet our guides and horses and begin our horseback journey toward Kilemche Jailoo. Today’s ride follows the scenic Bazar-Turuk Gorge through rolling hills, rivers, and open pastureland before arriving at a peaceful yurt camp surrounded by alpine scenery. Dinner and overnight will be spent in traditional yurts.
May 13
After breakfast, we’ll continue our horseback trek toward Tuz-Ashuu Pass at 3,200 meters, riding through wide open landscapes with incredible panoramic mountain views. From the pass, we’ll descend toward the shores of Song-Kol Lake, one of Kyrgyzstan’s most breathtaking high-altitude lakes and a centerpiece of the country’s nomadic culture. After lunch at our lakeside yurt camp, the afternoon is free to explore, walk along the shore, or simply relax and enjoy the stillness of this remote place. We’ll spend another night in yurts beneath the stars.
May 14
This morning we’ll set out on our final horseback ride, crossing Kok-Kiya Pass before descending back toward Kyzart Village. The route offers more incredible mountain scenery and one last chance to experience Kyrgyzstan’s rugged landscapes from horseback. After a farewell lunch with our hosts, we’ll drive back to Bishkek for one last evening together, including a farewell dinner and walk through the city before spending the night in a hotel.
May 15
After breakfast, Into the Wild will arrange your airport transfer for your departure flight. You’re free to leave anytime today, though the official trip concludes at 10:00 AM.
