ICELAND COUPLES TRIP ITINERARY
June 26th: Arrive in Reykjavik and head to the hotel. For this trip, Wendy will provide you with transport from the airport to the hotel, and vice versa! Note: You must arrive to Keflavik International airport by 3:00 pm but anytime before that is great. Our first stop is the hotel, and our next activity will be a very cool, very relaxing trip to Sky Lagoon hot springs to try out their 7 step Ritual! It is amazing, trust me! Afterwards, we will eat and sleep and rest.
June 27th: We’ll head out in the morning after breakfast to explore Pingvellir park, walk the techtonic plates and explore the area. We will also do a quick visit at Gulfoss waterfall and a few other sights, then head to our second hot springs of the trip- Secret Lagoon. One of the best things about Iceland is all of their hot springs and how varied and different they are. We will stay the night at Hotel Skaholt- while not luxurious (it’s an old nunnery), it’s charming in its own way, has an amazing chef, beautiful surroundings, and is a great stopping point for the night.
June 28th: After breakfast we will be doing a couple of hikes. If you’re in decent shape- you can do these hikes and the beauty of them is super rewarding. One one hike (more like a walk on lava paths) we will see the waterfall called Sigolduglflur, which is actually an entire canyon of waterfalls. From there, we will head to a very amazing place called Landmannalaugar for another hike. This hike is 3.5 miles long and only 700 feet of elevation gain, but the landscape is INCREDIBLE!!!! I really recommend doing it. THere’s also a natural hot spring called the People’s Pool in Landmannalaugar that we can enjoy depending on the group’s desires. We will stay one more night at Hotel Skaholt.
June 29th: Breakfast, and head out! Explore waterfalls such as Seljalandfoss, Skogafoss (you can stay at the bottom and enjoy it or climb lots of stairs to see more of the river it flows from) and just before arriving in the cool town of Vik, we will visit Dyrhólaey, Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. We will pass Vic after lunch and push on to Fjadrargljufur Canyon, which is of course mind blowingThere are no real hikes today, just awesome sight seeing and a 1 mile walk to the end of the canyon that’s suggested but not required. We will head back and eat in Vik, rest and sleep!
June 30: Breakfast, and then we are going to head back toward Reykjavik today and go to a wonderful place called Husafell (a 3.5 hour drive). When we arrive, we will enjoy a hike to more hot springs! Húsafell Canyon Baths are reached by hike only- the hike is rated as easy and is appropriate for all skill levels. However, there are 64 steps down to the canyon baths and of course you’ll have to go back up them. It’s a private venue and will not be overcrowded at all- which is nice compared to some of the other public hot springs we will have visited by then. We are also going to do an Ice Cave tour at 3pm if weather permits. On this tour, we journey up the white slopes and go deep inside the man-made ice tunnels leading to the blue heart of the glacier. We will ride in modified glacier vehicles specially made to explore the glacier environment and enjoy the view as we drive on top of the ice cap.
July 1: Breakfast, followed by an all day tour of The Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Snæfellsnes Peninsula is something you can’t miss if you want to capture Iceland’s true spirit and beauty. This tour offers you a spectacular landscape, extraordinary shores, and scenery. We’ll see a Seal colony and Kirkjufell, a very photogenic mountain point. The Snæfellsnes peninsula is one of the few places in Iceland with golden and pink beaches since Iceland is well known for its black lava beaches, and the beauty is just breathtaking. The peninsula brings you stretches of lava fields, beautiful waterfalls, and gorges, small lovely local villages. As this is our last night in Iceland, we will have a special closing dinner.
July 2: Breakfast, travel back to Reykjavik, and depart! It’s best to catch a flight after 3pm if possible, but it’s not required. Those who have a flight after 3 pm can visit the Blue Lagoon as their final Hot Springs experience. As stated before, I will provide rides back to the airport.
Have you ever been to a place so otherworldly you could hardly wrap your mind around it?
We can show you all of Iceland’s amazing sights and help you wander.
